Hello, I’m Shingo.
Shingo Ohno is a Japan-born Creative Director with over 20 years of experience leading campaigns for global brands such as Nike, Google, KFC, IKEA, and Spotify.
I’m currently based in Singapore with R/GA, after spending 13 years at Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo and starting my career at TYO Inc., one of Japan’s largest production companies.
I love coming up with ideas that solve problems in unexpected ways—and then making them real using the most fitting (or sometimes the most unconventional) technology and media. Over the years this approach has earned me more than 50 domestic and international awards, including Cannes Lions, The One Show, New York Festivals, and the London International Awards.
I began my career at TYO, where I worked on TV spots, music videos, websites, and large-scale productions. In the early 2000s, as a director, I focused on experimental online campaigns—yes, it was the Flash era. Projects ranged from a Walkman site that generated new music automatically on each visit, to Namazon, a community where 100,000 people lived in virtual Cup Noodle houses. I also created interactive music projects like muse’ic visualiser, blending design, sound, and play.
In 2007 I joined Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo, where I learned that branding is not about decoration but about finding a brand’s truth and expressing it in bold ways. At W+K, I led work across TV, digital, social, OOH, and events—sometimes inventing unexpected objects, like sneakers that play music or leeks that splash water when people tweet. Clients included Nike, Google, PlayStation, IKEA, Spotify, Airbnb, Ben & Jerry’s, and Otsuka.
Since 2021 I have been with R/GA Singapore, where I bring together my experience in Japan with new insights from Asia to create new value. At R/GA I led the Gen Z–focused rebranding of KFC Singapore (recognized with Effie and Gong Show Gold). I also directed global campaigns for The Battle Cats, a Japan-born mobile game with over 100 million downloads worldwide, guided the creative direction of Samsung’s global Instagram account with over 5 million followers, and drove regional branding for Prudential across Southeast Asia.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing guitar, writing playful calligraphy (like endlessly repeating “Ramen”), skating around on a two-wheeled board, and exploring Singapore’s food culture.
